Friday evening.
I just returned home from New York City.
I pondered a few ideas after responding to comments on Blogging From Paradise and commenting on a few top blogs.
What would I do next?
1 idea immediately popped into my mind: write a guest post.
I love writing guest posts. I love helping people. I love giving. I love getting too. I enjoy earning money. I enjoy receiving blog comments. I enjoy seeing traffic flow to my blog. All good. All fun.
“Ryan, can you get me on Forbes?”
“Ryan, who do I have to talk to for a feature on Entrepreneur?”
I get these emails and social media messages regularly. Way too regularly.
I sometimes ignore the messages outright. Too much desperation. But sometimes I respond with the simple message to create and connect persistently, for years, to gain the right, the privilege, and to pay your dues to appear on such world famous sites.
After reading this brilliant blog post by Gary Vaynerchuk I wanted to share 1 profitable, prospering, powerful secret of super successful bloggers.
I am where I am today because I became a magnet to opportunity.
For many years though, this was not the case.
I could never seem to find opportunities anywhere, for guest posting, for commenting on good blogs and for finding customers and clients.
But I eventually turned things around by following these 5 tips.
Someone once bought a penthouse for over $50 million USD down the block from here, where we are living in NYC for a few weeks.
OK; it was a long time ago. But it was still $50,000,000. Or something in that neighborhood.
My wife Kelli and I are house sitting for a cute little dog and cat on the Upper West Side of New York City, right by Central Park West. This is some of the most expensive real estate on earth.
Life is good. Life is sweet.
But it wasn’t always this way for me.
I had to face, embrace and release 3 tough blogging truths I did not want to hear many years ago to create this fun, freeing lifestyle.
I am human.
If you cut me, I bleed.
But some folks don’t believe me.
A growing collection of people believe I am a blogging cyborg. An unstoppable, mechanical robot with 1 purpose in mind: to create and connect so I can help lift up the blogosphere.
Appearing to be a blogging robot has its perks; my brand awareness has never been greater. Profits flow to me with increasing ease. My list grows steadily. I have saved money by not having to buy food (cyborg humor).
Most bloggers have a terrible visibility problem.
They have writing skills. They solve problems easily. Some spin entertaining yarns. Others offer practical, proven tips. But they are publishing posts in an empty blogging cave, echos carrying through the chamber each time they hit the “publish” button.
Nothing feels worse than having zero exposure.
I know.
I used to get like 3 visitors a day to my blog.
Now I drive a lot more traffic than that. Even better? I have been featured on some of the world’s most famous, respected blogs.
The last time I published this type of exposure post on Enstine’s blog I had been featured on rocking blogs like Forbes, Virgin, Fox News and Entrepreneur.
Since then I have been featured on John Chow Dot Com, Positively Positive, Life Hack Dot Org and Smart Blogger.
