How Sherman Smith can help establish your home business!

It’s another Thursday and I’m so excited to talk to you about one awesome guy I have known for sometime now. I read his blog steadily and can tell you  he is great.

One thing that’s awesome about the bloggers I interact with is that they are F.A.K.E. (See what that means here before you start freaking out) Our blogger this week is definitely one of them and I’d like you to discover him more today.

Note that there have been many bloggers I have featured in the past. These are guys/gals I highly recommend you engage with. You  know the beauty and success in blogging depends on not only the number but the quality of bloggers you connect with. In my featured blogger series, I’m putting these savvy bloggers in one place, making it quite easy for you locate and connect with them.

Meet Sherman Smith

sherman smithSherman Smith is definitely a person you don’t meet everyday. He has been a great supporter of my blog as well as some of the services and plugins I create. He is also one of the active users of BroadeNet

But let me tell you a little more about Sherman. He works in IT as a computer technician/network administrator, he plays piano and conga drums, and on top of that he dances salsa. His goal as a blogger is to help those entrepreneurs who are just getting started on their entrepreneurial journey. He focuses on people who work full time jobs, have families, and who don’t have a lot of time to work full time on their home business.

He particularly focuses on people who are in the transition of going from an employee mentality to a business/entrepreneurial mentality. So many people start home businesses without having a clue of what to do, how to do it, to what extent to do it, and where to find beneficial answers that will help them progress with their home business.

How does he know?

Sherman’s first home business was, guess, a computer repair business which he struggled with and on top of that didn’t take off at all. So what did he do? He went from Computer Repair business to Network Marketing which he learned a lot from. He learned the value of mindset and personal development, sales and what tools that are available for offline marketing. For Sherman, being an introvert didn’t help him a lot with network marketing, but he was always curious of how people became successful with network marketing and other business models.

The Inception Of Online Marketing For Sherman Smith

After getting some tips of how to cold call prospects from one of the top producers in his company, he started to do some research on how to market online. He ran into people like Mike Dillard and Jonathan Budd, and actually invested in quite a few attraction marketing systems.

Sherman pushed himself to learn what he could about online marketing whenever he had the time. If he didn’t have time, he made the time. He started having success using such strategies as Pay Per Click and Solo Ads.

After talking to quite a few people from his marketing campaign, he found out why so many people failed at their network marketing home business.

He discovered that for one they’re not developing the mindset for it, and for two they don’t have a clue about marketing and sales.

To break it down further he found that majority of people didn’t know:

  • Anything about creating a sales funnel
  • The importance of Analytics and reviewing their sites performance
  • How to develop the mindset to be successful
  • The importance of building relationships
  • How to use Social Media
  • Don’t have a lot of time on their hands
  • Don’t know anything about automated tools

With that said, he made it his mission to educate people about marketing their business online. While he’s educating people, he’s also educating himself in the process. Not just on the tools and strategies, but more on the people. He finds that like himself there are other introverts who are getting into marketing their home business online and are looking for direction.

Sherman’s Discovery Of Blogging

Sherman heard about blogging back in the 1990’s, but he didn’t know he could leverage a blog up until 2010 where he started a free wordpress blog. He had started with another network marketing company and was encouraged to start blogging by his sponsor.

That’s when the journey of blogging began. He saw the benefits of blogging and how it can help you with your personal brand which he uses to gain trust from his visitors. And the one thing he wants to get across is that engaging your fellow man, building those connections and relationships are key to building a successful home business.

Ironically, with blogging as well as other marketing strategies helped him decide to focus his efforts on affiliate marketing, so he got out of the network marketing industry towards the end of 2013. He found himself to be more successful doing affiliate marketing than network marketing.

Sherman is a believer that you can make money with any business model that’s out there, but he also wants you to find the one that resonates well with you! With the information that he provides, it will definitely get your business to a good start with online marketing!

I read Sherman’s blog posts occasionally. Great posts.

Great to see another person who found affiliate marketing the best sort of earning.
I really liked is strategy of going reputation through personal branding. Humanistic approach.

    • Hey Akshay,

Great to see you here as well!

Yes I really like affiliate marketing. I really had to dig within myself to figure out why I had to leave the network marketing industry and stick with affiliate marketing. It was definitely a wise choice.

Personal Branding and Blogging goes hand in hand and yes it can definitely be considered a humanistic approach!

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’re enjoying your weekend!

  9. Hi Enstine,

Great introduction to Sherman! Since I began following his blog in the early fall I’ve really seen the quality of his content grow and improve and I really enjoy reading his articles.

I think the majority of businesses across all industries have a hard time with marketing and sales. People who start businesses are usually great at their craft but have no training or experience in building and running a business.

Then they get caught up with the wrong people who just take their money and never really help them, which only makes the problem worse for the business owner because now they don’t know who to trust. I see it all of the time!!!!

A business owner MUST take the time to learn the art and skill of marketing and sales if their business is going to succeed. So many scream they don’t have time. Well, if you don’t have time then give it time and you’ll be out of business.

I encourage them to read blogs, books and find a mentor or a coach who can help them after they’ve gotten to know them.

Sherman is doing a fantastic job and is a great resource for people who have full time jobs and want to make that transition one day.

Thanks for sharing him with us!!!

    ~ Don Purdum

    • Hey Don,

Im glad that you stop by and took notice of my blog posts. I want to grow my blog and at the same time help those who really don’t have a clue as to how to grow a business online. It can definitely be a challenge, especially if you come from an 8-5 background.

You definitely can attest of how many businesses have a hard time with marketing and sales. A lot of business, and people in general, really don’t know the difference between the two. I sure was confused about the difference for the longest time! I’m glad that you made the video on the difference, and made it simple enough for anyone to understand.

Yes, there quite a few people that use the excuse that they don’t have time to learn marketing and sales, but if they’re serious, they just have to make time. It’s better to start right then and their then to procrastinate to the point of quitting.

Thanks Don for the great edification and I hope you’re enjoying the holidays! Take Care!

  10. I’ve been to Sherman’s blog and i can testify, he is a blogger to follow. i enjoy reading his articles. Thanks Enstine for letting us know more of his background.

    • Hey Moses,

Thanks for stopping by and the edification about my blog. I want to help as much people as I can while growing my blog. But that’s all what we want right? Take Care my friend!

  11. Hi Enstine

I am regular follower of Sherman’s blog. His prowess in networking marketing and skills in creating sales funnel is above board and deserves to be called authority in these fields.

The biggest benefit of reading your feature series is knowing a lot more about the people who we already in connect but mostly know about simply one aspect of his life and that is mostly blogging and online marketing.

It is good to know he was associated with computer repair business and then switched to network marketing though apparently both the businesses have not direct linkage.

The list of his epic post you pointed here are sufficient to pass my weekend without any boredom.

Thanks a lot for telling in detail about another awesome blogger.

    • Hey Mi Muba,

I really have to thank the network marketing industry for setting the foundation of where I am today with affiliate marketing. Without it, I don’t know where I would be now.

Every time I think about the computer repair business I have to chuckle to myself. I was so lost on how to get this going, but I’m glad I got out of it. If push came to shove, if I would’ve made something of it, I’d probably would have made it into a brick and mortar business, but deep down inside I knew that wasn’t the direction I wanted to go.

But I do hope that you enjoy the blog posts that are listed here and take something from them that you can instantly use.

Thanks for stopping by Mi Muba and I hope you’re enjoying your weekend!

  12. Hi Enstine,

Glad you introduced Sherman to me. Halfway through reading this I had to go over and read his offering about using free themes.
I’m still debating that one! Have a paid theme I use, but for the most part use WP 2010 which I find easy to work with…and they do update it.
Blogging like the internet is in perpetual change and it almost seems that everything you think you have learned and are using disappears with the mist in the air after the sun hits it.
Each blogger seems to have his or her own system for monetizing their blog and turning it into a business instead of a hobby.
Guess the trick is to find a system that works and fits in with your blogging style.

Nice to meet you Sherman Smith!

    • Hey Cararta,

Its great to meet you and I appreciate this opportunity of Enstine featuring me on his blog for the week.

With the free themes I was only going by my experience. I had a very challenging time trying to get them to work for me as well with malware. So I decided to get a paid them which is the Genesis Framework and its hasn’t been too much of a hassle.

Yes each blogger has their own way to monetize their blog. The challenge is figuring one out that resonates with you and getting it to work!

Thanks for stopping by Cararta and I hope you’re having a great weekend!

  13. Hi Enstine,

It is so great seeing Sherman here! I’ve known him for such a long time and it is always a pleasure to visit him on his blog and on the social sites.

I’ve seen him Grow his blog and education….lots of education..and share it with others with his valuable content he always shares. Whenever I think of Sherman, I think of him dancing and how I want to one day learn how to dance salsa too. What great branding! He says he is shy, but I tease him often to do a webinar while playing drums or dancing lol.

Seriously, Sherman is a good person to connect with. I think I’ve known him since the JB days long ago.. I would like your readers to know that Sherman will never let you down. Go to his blogs and see for yourself! Plus he has a great deal of reciprocity and will visit you too.

    • Hey Donna,

Glad that you were able to make it over to the blog. This was definitely an honor to be on Enstine’s blog and a surprise. This opportunity doesn’t come to often!

Yes I’m an introvert, and slowly trying to balance out the introversion with the extroversion. One of these days I’ll do a webinar. Right now I’m working on doing more videos, especially for the coming new year!

Thanks Donna for stopping by and the edification! I hope you’re holidays are going great! Take Care!

  14. Hi Sherman, and welcome to Enstine’s blog 🙂

What was interesting about him was his interest for Salsa! Something so different for bloggers, isn’t it? And I am glad he manages to take out time for that, and I’ve seen a few of his dancing pictures too – awesome indeed. Always good to know more about friend’s, isn’t it?
