How to Increase Social Media Traffic with two social media traffic apps!

One of the things we can no longer ignore as online entrepreneurs is social media traffic. Without searching too deep, one can easily notice that social media has quickly become an important source of traffic and almost everyone online is scrambling for it.

We’ve been told that to get considerable amount of traffic from the Internet monster without doing social PPC, you need a huge follower base.  That was true some years back.

Things have changed today, allowing folks to pull in huge traffic from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc,  even if they just started on them some few minutes ago.

In today’s post, I want to discuss some tools and how to trigger a rush for your blog from different social media properties.

I will show you how to get Twitter Tweets and followers, Facebook likes and shares, LinkedIn shares, Google pluses and shares, etc by allowing others to willingly want to talk to their followers about your content. This is actually free Social Media Traffic

How to get more Social Media Traffic even if you are just starting!

Note that I’m not going to talk about social sharing buttons on your blog.

social media traffic

Though this is indisputably effective, social media tool bars are beginning to suffer from some sort of blindness. People sometimes ignore these buttons without knowing. That’s why some bloggers recommend that you remind your readers to share your post after they finish reading in order to some what help you get more social media traffic.

But there are other things you can do and your readers will find themselves clicking to share without you openly asking them to ‘please share this post on social media

So how do you increase your social media traffic without sweating?

First, you have to publish shareable content. Readers don’t share for pleasure. One of the things they care about first is the quality of your content. If your content is meaty, your readers may want their followers to benefit from it. But if you push skeletons online, I can guarantee you won’t get anyone posting it to friends, hence no social media traffic.

1 – Using Social Locker to increase social media traffic

Updated: To get a free copy of Social Locker, enter this GiveAway

Social Locker is, as a matter of fact a top social media traffic app to remarkably increase social actions and traffic.

The concept is easy …

Lock some piece of content and readers do some social media action (tweet, share, like, follow, etc) to unlock access to the content.

The power and effectiveness of social locker depends on the value of the locked content. If you lock something your readers really want, chances are high for them to want to grab it.

Some of the things most bloggers hide behind the locker are coupon codes, pdf versions of blog posts, special reports, etc.

Social locker is some sort of Pay with A Tweet but it actually covers more social media networks and generates more results.

How does social locker work?

First, go here and download your copy. Install and active it

Once installed and activated, go to Social Locker -> New locker

This should be found on your left menu bar within your WordPress Dashboard. On the page that follows, you are going to see different options but out interest now lies on Social Locker. So click “Create Item”

social locker create

Now, the next page is quite interesting and straight to the point;

increasesocial media traffic

This is where you actually create what your readers see on your blog posts that helps drive Traffic to your website .

First, in the “Enter title Here” field (not shown on this image), you will have to type in something that describes this particular promotion. This is what we are going to use to insert the locker in your blog posts. For the sake of this demo, I typed “AMB Locker” You are going to see how that comes to use down the page.

  1. Point 1 above is the title on the locker and should be strong enough to attract the readers
  2. Point 2 is the content on the locker. This can be formatted the way you want, including images, links, etc
  3. Point 3 is the locker theme or design. Use the button to change to anything of your choice
  4. Point 4 simply adds more to the design and
  5. Point 5 is the preview. This is about what your locker will look like on your blog post

And what about the social media buttons on the locker?

This plugin is quite flexible allowing you to be able to add/remove social media buttons from the locker. You can also set the text and url to be shared on social media on specific buttons.

social media traffic buttons

What you simply do is click the button option on the left to open its panel on the right. Choose to set it on/off, add the url and text to be shared on social media, etc.

The different social options on available include Facebook Like, Facebook Share, Twitter Tweet, Tweeter Follow, Google + Share, Google +, Youtube share and LinkedIn share. I know may will be added with the growth of social media.

More control over the locker

Of course, there are more ways you can control the locker and make it more flexible and effective. One of these is the ability to relock content.

social locker relock

Here is how it works…

If a reader unlocks your locked content today and comes back to this post after 5 days, he will be required to unlock again. That makes sense because if he does once, he can do twice, this time using another social media button.

Check more of these options on the right side of your screen.

How to add social locker to your blog posts to increase social media traffic!

Now, make sure you save your locker by clicking the “Publish” button. Don’t worry. Nothing will be published on your blog. Here are 2 ways to add the content to your blog post;

1 – Grab the shortcode found on the right panel of your screen

add social locker

2 – Remember the locker title I mentioned above? In this case, it’s “AMB Locker” This can help us insert the short code in our content without having to copy it as shown on image above. Remember this title is for internal use only. It’s not seen by the public.

Now, once you had social locker installed and activated, your post editor tool bar was modified with the addition of social locker icon. Clicking the icon will pull up a list of recent lockers you’ve created on your blog. Here is what it looks like;

increasing social media traffic

You notice my most recent locker “AMB Locker” on top of the list. To add this to my content, I’ll click the social locker icon -> then the name of the locker. The shortcode will be generated and drop to the specific spot on my editor.

The next step will be to add the content I want to hide. Remember that can be anything. It could be a video, text (one or more paragraphs), images, locker short code

The locked content must be wrapped within the shortcode as you see in this image.

Does social locker help in increasing Social Media Traffic?

The answer is yes. Here are stats of one of my lockers;

social locker unlock stat

87 unlocks within 24 hours. This happened when the post went live.

locker stat

883 impressions generating 207 unlocks is something to think about. This will certainly drive traffic to your website from social media.

Let’s do a social locker demo

Now, I have show you above how this social media traffic app works. Time to see it practically in action. Through out, while showing you those steps, I actually created a locker to protect the coupon code for my ebook. Try this locker out and you will instantly be shown the coupon code to save up to $20;

I see you have unlocked the code. Here is your special discount code:

Click here to grab your copy!

That’s it. All you need now is download your copy of social locker and start enjoying more social media traffic.

2 – How to increase social media traffic with tweetables

Let me continue revealing more social media traffic tips and this time, we want to deal with a tool that’s mainly Twitter. As we know, Twitter is a social media force no one can undermine.

The traffic app we want to focus on is TweetDis. It’s an exceptionally awesome app with tons of options to give virtual beauty to your blog posts while positively affecting your social media traffic statistics.

It makes it easy for you to add tweetables to your articles, with the flexibility to add pictures, text and links. You can make sentences, paragraphs or pictures tweetable. Here is an example you can tweet immediately;

Looks beautiful right?

Don’t worry! There are more than 10 templates to choose from.

The first step is to grab your copy of TweetDis here. Once you have it, install and activate. Then go to Tweed Dis -> and click the Tweet Tab.

Here, we want to do some basic settings;tweetdis settings

Basically, you’ll set the preposition, default account and URL shortener. Make sure you fill the default account. This will create a mention each time someone uses the tweet widget on your posts.

Note that without this, some folks may not tweet. This is true for those who always want you to know they tweeted your post. They expect some feedback from you.

Like I mentioned above, this plugin allows you to turn simple text and images into tweetables.  You can use it to add more value to your posts by adding quotes from renown figures.

Personalizing the tweet box!

Apart from the settings above, there are other things you can do to give more personal touch to the widget (tweet box) on your blog.tweetdis box settings

There are different box designs. What you can do is set one as default. (Don’t worry. I will show you how to add this to your blog posts later).

Other areas of the box you can change here are the font size, the margin and the tweet button (Call-To-Action) text.

What about tweetable text background?

Remember I mentioned above that you can select a section of text and make it tweetable. To make the tweetable text stand out, the background color has to be different. So here is how to pre-set the background highlighting color of your tweetable text;

tweetdis tweetable text

Once you select your color, click to save.

Making your images tweetable

One of the ways to remarkably boost your social media traffic is to make your images tweetable.

TweetDis allows your readers to easily tweet your images by adding a “Tweet” button on or below the image. The position of the button is defined by one of the six available templates.

tweetdis image

You’ll discover that different templates have different options. So you can go ahead and do the changes to fit your theme.

Adding TweetDis Boxes (widget) to your posts

Now, we’ve established that TweetDis is a great app to increase your social media traffic. We’ve also seen how to customize it and set the different options. How do you add the boxes to your blog posts?

Just like social locker, TweetDis will modify your post editing tool bar by adding its icon:

tweetdis icon

What you do first is select the text you want to make tweetable. Then click this icon. This will pop up the window for you to pick out some options and apply to the text;

tweetdis popup

You can test out different options to see what’s best for you 😉

These are the two simple but effective apps that can really increase your social media traffic. If you didn’t have any of this, you may want to pay some attention to them, get them setup and let’s see how that affects your social media exposure.

  5. Great article! I’ve tried social locker before, so I find this a great suggestion. I like the fact that you mentioned that one should have a catchy blog title for locked content, which was my problem in the beginning. So far as tweetdis, this is my first time hearing about it, but it looks like a great tool. Thank you for your wonderful suggestions. 🙂

  8. Hi Enstine,

I always had a problem with the social locker, when ever I activated. My theme layout doesn’t support this plugin. I searched for plugins similar to this but couldn’t find anything as impressive as this one.
TweetDis, that’s interesting! Im currently using ‘click to tweet’ on my blog. TweetDis seems to updated version. Need to give it a try some time soon.

I am very new to Social locker and not given a serious try to TweetDis although heard of it. Using Better Click to Tweet as of now and its time to check TweetDis then 🙂 Thanks again for sharing this article and have a great day dear 🙂

  11. Hello Estine,

Social Locker is awesome. I saw it on a lot of famous blogs in my country even some foreign blogs. This is really powerful when the blog sharing valuable contents, people will not hesitate to click Likes or G+ for those. Fantastic

  12. Hello Enstine

Nice one! Social media traffic is so important, not only because they boost our website traffic, but also gives a site a better social authority.

I got a HUGE increase in engagement with the social locker plugin on WordPress!

  13. Social Locker is a good plugin for some blog when you have something to share like new e-books, new secret tips.

But I think if we don’t have anything special to share, users will pass it. It could hurt some websites instead of bringing benefits to it.

  14. First of all, I LOVE the name TweetDis. Second, thanks for highlight the components of a post, with the numbered list. Will consider the apps you suggested, thanks

  15. You are right about social share buttons on blogs. It seems that people don’t take notice so these methods you shared are so great.

  16. Hey Enstine,

I remember you talking about social locker a little over a year ago. It is a great tool to have and I can see how it can draw suspense and eagerness to get to content only if your visitors share your content.

Also the Tweetdis is a great branding social share button. You can include your profile picture and the message of the blog post or your over all blog. I’ve been adding the Click To Tweet button which is similar and it does help to increase shares on my blog.

Thanks for sharing Enstine! Have a good one!

    • Hi Sherman,
Thanks for stopping here and sharing this post on social media. I have missed your blog as well for the past couple of days due to health issues. However, I’ll soon bounce back

I hope you are doing wonderfully great this week

  17. You really speak my mind, because am contemplating of asking you about CLICK TO TWEET I always seeing in your posts and appreciate you for uncover the tips. I will surly make twitter app. Thanks again.

  19. Hi Enstine,

Deriving traffic from popular social media is much difficult. You talk about social media locker in post that i found very helpful if use on my blog i think this can help me in getting some visitors from social media.

  20. Hi Enstine

(Apologies if this appears twice – there was a glitch!!)

TweetDis looks a very neat tool and with an affordable one-off cost it’s tempting.

While I always look for my friends’ Share Bars, I’ve noticed that when I see Click To Tweet type boxes I usually share those too, so they’re getting more shares, which is great. The only reservation I have about Twitter is that it goes by so fast – which I suppose in itself is another reason why we need something like TweetDis LOL

I already have another Click To Tweet type plugin which for sure has fewer features. I haven’t really got the time to go back and change all the old ones to a new format – do you have any experience of whether it would “play nicely” with an existing / similar plugin?

Always more great info from you 🙂

    Joy – Blogging After Dark

    • Hey Joy,
Luckily, this didn’t appear twice 😉

You know the problem with share bars is that they get you stuck to the title of the post whereas tweet boxes are just an empty space for you to fill anything.

Before I got TweetDis, I was using CoSchedule’s Click to tweet but that’s quite limited in terms of features and templates. At the moment, both plugins co-habit nicely. As a matter of fact, there shouldn’t be any conflict (from the point of view of plugin developer)

Good to see you here this weekend Joy. It’s been a busy week and we thank God for the weekend. Another week is just some hours away 😉

  22. It’s worth to know some alternative methods to engage more visitors on social networks, but frankly speaking, I hate this concept of locking down something.

  23. Hi Enstine

You are right about social share buttons on blogs. It seems that people don’t take notice so these methods you shared are so great.

They will definitely help bloggers looking to increase their social shares. Take care.

    • Hi bro,
Just like banner blindness, those buttons are suffering from some unconscious action that keep readers away from using them.

By the way, thanks for adding to this post.

  24. Very helpful tutorial about increase traffic on Social Media Networks, but that does not good work if any user interested with our article/post, who has automatically shared and like with our post/article. That forcibly works.

  25. Hey Enstine,

Every time I’ve ever clicked to share a post on social media so I could obtain the information, it’s never given me the information. I have no idea of course what those people were using and let’s face it, all you’re suppose to do is share their post so it will unlock whatever they promised. None of them have ever worked so I just ignore them and I don’t waste my time.

I’m sure when it works well that it’s a great way to get more shares but for me, they lost me participating.

As you also know, I implemented the Tweet This feature on my blog at the beginning of the year and what I share gets a lot of tweets. I was always told that they do but I’ve seen this work now for the past three months.

I hated to implement a plugin because when they stop working your posts are a mess. But I did buy SocialWarfare and that is included with the plugin so that’s the one I’m using. My good pal Ashvini dropped Share Juice Pro support so I had no choice but to get another plugin.

Anyway, thank you for sharing these with us, you’re always on top of things.

Enjoy your week and I’ll see you around. 😉

    • Hey Adrienne,
It’s rather unfortunate you’ve had bad past with Social Locker. I don’t know what those marketers locked behind but it’s sad you didn’t get what they promised.

I have seen this plugin on great blogs and from my experience, I get the expected value each time I unlock.

Yes I have used the Tweet widget on your blog too. It’s more attractive than those social buttons as they help the readers know exactly what will be shared before even clicking the button.

In addition, you can diversify the tweet message within a single post while the traditional buttons only give you the single option of the post title.

Thanks for making it to this post. I know it took me longer than usual to response. I however knew I was going to be here some day.

Waiting for your new thing by May 😉

  26. Nice article you’ve written, really helpful! Social Media buttons are one of the most important features for a blog. Cause, surely you want that people, who like your stuff, show this to others. And with this nice tool “Social Locker” finally I will increase my social traffic, thanks for presenting it to me. Maybe you are also interested in a time saving tool to share your own articles to social media. Have you ever heard of Blog2Social? It’s an easy and tool to schedule and post automatically to the various social media, while at the same time it allows you to customize your postings for each network’s requirement. Also you can select the image you like to go with your post.

  27. Hi Enstine,

I see you always on the move with great tools.

I got on board hotjar a few days ago. Yesterday, it was Push notification. Today, it’s this or that. Come on, give me some time to get on board push notification and the rest before you introduce another one tomorrow.

They’re all good: Social Locker is powerful for marketing products online. I’m amazed how you’ve just directed me to your “Affiliate Marketing for Bloggers” landing page, after giving me the coupon code with the tool.

That said, you’ve been helpful all this while. And thanks for that.

  28. Hi Enstine,

Tweet Dis looks clean! That’s been my big issue; with my theme, many social twitter share plug ins don’t look too hot. I need the interface to fit my blog easily for me to use it.

I’ll dig into TD now. Gotta get on that train because I’ve a score of followers on twitter.

    Thanks for sharing!

    • Hi Ryan,
I love the plugin by Tim
But really, I’m still facing the privacy issue I mentioned to you each time I hit your blog. I get your alerts everywhere but still unable to benefit from what you share

      Has someone else complained ?

  29. Hello;

Thanks for this wonderful post, i have tweetdis plugin and i use it only on few important post what do you think?

    • Hi Felix,
I think you should use it as often as possible, giving every reader a chance to tweet.
Are some of your posts not as important as should be tweeted?

  30. bro is there any alternative to social locker. Both of these are paid products. If somebody wants to use some free version having the same or a few functions. One more thing. Do we get discount of social locker as it’s showing $25.

    • Hi bro,
I think coSchedule has a free app fro the retweet function but quite limited. There is also a free version for social locker available on their website.

Check that out and let me know

  31. Great post Enstine

The locker app looks cool, I have seen this before in your post only, today you revealed it. I will try this app soon.

Here the thing is, the hidden content should be something important to the reader, then only he/she will unlock it.

One question, are you getting shares, or only likes for unlocking the content?

Click to tweet app is also an awesome one, currently I am using it in my blog.

    Thanks for sharing 😉

    • Hey bro,

“are you getting shares, or only likes for unlocking the ”

There is always action on every button. Remember the plugin allows you to choose your button.

      Give it a try

  32. Hello Muki Bro,
Thanks for the awesome sharing. I’m already using the Social Locker free version. It’s really awesome and help me to get more social share as well as traff

  33. Hi Enstine,

With this information coming from someone who has been using the social media tools himself, I’m sure the expected result will be nothing short of amazing.

I love content unlocker the most, because of its possibility to increase the sharing and reach of content. This like you reveal in the content, will increase the traffic to our blog content.

Social media traffic can’t be ignore anymore, social media marketing is now part of our day-to-day business activities.

    Thanks Enstine, nice read.

    • Hi man,
Welcome here and thanks for the comment
